The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will officially forward Zelenskyy’s open letter to the Kremlin through diplomatic channels

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is officially forwarding an open letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin through official diplomatic channels.

This was announced by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga on the evening of June 4, 2026.

The head of the foreign ministry emphasized that this appeal is not merely a public declaration, but a legally formalized, serious, and substantial proposal directly from the head of the Ukrainian state, aimed at a genuine cessation of the bloodshed. The document contains a detailed list of specific, sequential, and feasible steps to halt hostilities, as well as an official invitation to the leader of the Russian Federation for a personal meeting on neutral territory.

Andriy Sybiga emphasized that the Ukrainian side is counting exclusively on a substantive, constructive, and official response from the Kremlin to this initiative, adding that a historic moment has arrived to end this war and choose the path to peace.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin has already reacted to the document’s release. Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that the administration had seen the published letter and plans to report on it to Putin. However, the Russian dictator’s spokesperson immediately reiterated Moscow’s traditional position, noting that “if Zelenskyy wants to meet with Putin, he can come to Moscow,” and also repeated the ultimatum regarding concessions by Ukrainian regions. Despite the Russian side’s initial skeptical statements, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry insists on receiving a full diplomatic response through official channels.

Sybiga wrote about this on his page on the social network X.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy published an open letter to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The document formally proposes ending the war through direct bilateral talks between the leaders and implementing a complete ceasefire.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow is allegedly ready for negotiations to end the war against Ukraine, but sees no willingness for dialogue on the Ukrainian side.

Putin is not changing course and continues to finance the war.
