The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denies that there was any political context to Zelenskyy's departure from Chisinau

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denies that there was any political context to Zelenskyy's departure from Chisinau

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the change in the itinerary of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s trip to the United Kingdom has no political implications

The ministry emphasized that logistical arrangements for the head of state are determined solely by organizational and security considerations.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi commented on reports that appeared in the media and on social media following the president’s visit to the United Kingdom.

Some users linked the change in itinerary to alleged tensions in relations between Ukraine and Poland.

According to the diplomat, such assumptions are unfounded. He emphasized that the head of state’s travel arrangements are handled by the relevant protocol service, and attempts to read political signals into this are baseless.

“I’ve seen this connection. It seems to me that it’s contrived. The President’s logistics are handled separately by his protocol service. Let’s not politicize logistics issues and, especially, let’s not draw undue attention to them from a security perspective. It’s not worth it, to be honest. There is no political dimension here, and there’s no need to look for one,” Georgiy Tykhyi stated during a briefing.

The discussion arose following reports that on June 7, Volodymyr Zelenskyy traveled to the United Kingdom via Chisinau.

Previously, the Polish airport in Rzeszów was often used for the Ukrainian president’s foreign trips; it has become one of the key logistics hubs for Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war.

It was precisely because of this change in route that speculation began to appear on social media about a possible political subtext to this decision.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry emphasizes that such conclusions are unfounded, and that the travel routes of the country’s leadership are determined primarily by security and organizational factors.

This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi at a briefing, according to Ukrinform.
