A scheme involving the production and sale of counterfeit driver's licenses has been uncovered in Volyn
Detectives from the Volyn Regional Office of the Economic Security Bureau have completed a pre-trial investigation into three residents of Volyn suspected of manufacturing and distributing counterfeit official documents.
The indictment has already been sent to court.
According to the investigation, the organizer of the illegal scheme was a resident of the Lutsk district, who set up a special workspace in his home for the production of fake documents. To do this, he used appropriate equipment, as well as illegally acquired holographic security features that made the forgeries look like genuine documents.
The suspect produced counterfeit driver’s licenses and vehicle registration certificates, after which two of his accomplices joined the operation. They were responsible for finding clients, collecting the necessary personal data, and delivering the finished documents to the customers.
The cost of a single fake driver’s license ranged from $300 to $400.
During authorized searches, law enforcement officers seized the counterfeit documents, equipment used to produce them, laminating tapes, protective films, cash, and other physical evidence confirming the illegal activity.
All three suspects have been notified of their suspicion of forging official documents and selling them, committed repeatedly by a group of individuals acting in prior conspiracy.
In addition, the organizer of the scheme is additionally charged with the illegal acquisition, storage, and sale of illegally obtained holographic security elements.
Operational support for the case was provided by officers of the Internal Security Department of the National Police of Ukraine, while procedural oversight was provided by the Volyn Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The defendants’ fate will now be decided by the court.

Earlier, in the Kyiv region, law enforcement officers dismantled an extensive criminal network involved in the production and sale of counterfeit government documents with holographic security features.
In the Kirovohrad region, a channel for the production and international sale of counterfeit official documents was uncovered. Under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office, three local residents have been notified of suspicion regarding the forgery and sale of holographic elements and documents, including driver’s licenses and vehicle registration certificates (Part 2 of Article 199, Part 3 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
