Boris the deer, who is undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in the capital, is showing positive progress. After a serious injury, he has already begun to carefully put weight on his injured leg, which is an important step toward recovery.
Boris is currently continuing his rehabilitation.
Due to the fracture and prolonged immobility, the muscles of the injured limb have weakened, so every new step is crucial for his recovery.
The animal is receiving the necessary treatment, high-quality nutrition, and round-the-clock care, and his favorite treats serve as a kind of additional therapy for him.
“We are seeing positive progress. The fact that he has started to put weight on his leg is an important stage in his recovery. There is still a lot of work ahead, but we are moving in the right direction,” noted Natalia Popova, director of the Wildlife Rescue Center.
Recently, the deer was moved to an open enclosure, which is a more comfortable environment for the animal and closer to its natural habitat.
At the same time, preparations for Boris’s return home are already well underway. Ruslan Khrystiuk, a forester at the Richytsia Forestry, has completed the construction of a new enclosure where the deer will live after rehabilitation.
“We are in constant contact with the center’s doctors and with Natalia Popova. We consult and discuss every step. We understand that Boris will return home—and we are preparing for that. The enclosure has already been set up to ensure he is as comfortable and safe as possible. It has everything he needs for a normal, peaceful life,” said Ruslan Khrystiuk.
Experts emphasize that Boris still has a long recovery period ahead of him, but the initial results give cause for optimism and hope for the animal’s full recovery.
This was reported by the Polissya Forest Office branch.
Boris, the deer famous on social media, has shown significant progress in his rehabilitation, taking his first independent steps while leaning on his injured leg.
