In Bukovina, a man attempted to smuggle a conscript into Romania
In the Chernivtsi region, law enforcement officers apprehended a man suspected of organizing the illegal smuggling of a conscript across the state border. According to the investigation, he quoted a price of 5,000 U.S. dollars for his services.
According to law enforcement officials, operatives from the Chernivtsi Border Guard Detachment received information about plans to illegally transport a citizen of draft age to Romania outside of official border crossing points.
The investigation established that a resident of Bukovina was driving his client to the state border in his own car, where he was to show him the route for the illegal crossing. However, border guards stopped the vehicle along the way, after which both men were detained.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers determined that the conscript had paid 5,000 U.S. dollars to organize the illegal departure. The cash and the vehicle were seized as physical evidence.
The organizer of the scheme was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and charged under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine.
The court imposed a preventive measure on the suspect in the form of pretrial detention with the right to post bail.
The operation was carried out by officers of the Chernivtsi Border Guard Detachment in cooperation with representatives of the SBU Directorate in Khmelnytskyi Oblast and the Kamianets-Podilskyi District Police Department, with force support from the “Dozor” and “KORD” special units, and under the procedural supervision of the Kamianets-Podilskyi District Prosecutor’s Office.

Earlier, in the Odesa region, border guards caught a man and a woman attempting to illegally smuggle a conscript into Moldova for $1,500.
