A man who demanded $50,000 from a farmer was arrested in Bukovina

In Bukovina, law enforcement officers detained a 58-year-old man suspected of extorting $50,000 from the owner of a farm.

According to the investigation, the suspect fabricated a story about a nonexistent debt and, over the course of several months, threatened the business owner with the destruction of his farm, physical violence, and the detonation of a grenade near his home or car.

Investigators also claim that during one of their meetings, the man beat the victim and threatened him with a knife.

The suspect was arrested on August 4 immediately after receiving the $50,000. The court ordered him to be held in pretrial detention.
