In Bukovina, a woman promised to arrange disability status in exchange for $10,000 to secure a deferment

A 57-year-old resident of the Chernivtsi region was detained on suspicion of promising, for $10,000, to help a man subject to military service obtain a disability classification and a deferment from mobilization.

According to the investigation, the woman planned to arrange with officials at a medical facility to process the necessary documents and have the man assigned an appropriate disability classification.

She was detained on August 10. The woman was notified that she is suspected of receiving an unlawful benefit in exchange for influencing a decision, combined with extortion.

The court imposed a preventive measure in the form of pretrial detention, with an alternative bail of over 350,000 hryvnias. The penalty under this article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment.
