Law enforcement officials have charged two twin sisters from the Dnipropetrovsk region with organizing a scheme to issue fake disability certificates to men of draft age.
According to the investigation, the women offered conscripts assistance, for $4,000, in obtaining disability status and documents certifying unfitness for military service, which could later be used to travel abroad.
Investigators established that the suspects collected clients’ personal documents, sought out the necessary medical diagnoses, and arranged for formal medical procedures to be carried out. Afterward, based on the forged medical documents, the men were granted disability status.
One of the suspects was detained while receiving another installment of the funds.
Both women were notified of their status as suspects under articles regarding the organization of the illegal transportation of persons across the state border and abuse of influence.
The court imposed a preventive measure on the suspects in the form of detention, with the alternative of posting bail in the amount of 2 million hryvnias for each.
