In Donetsk Oblast, a law enforcement officer was caught selling grenade launchers and ammunition

Officers from the State Bureau of Investigations, in collaboration with the National Police of Ukraine, have exposed a law enforcement officer suspected of illegally selling weapons and ammunition in the Donetsk region. According to the investigation, while on combat duty, the man allegedly sold grenade launchers and grenades via a messaging app. He has already been notified of the suspicion of illegal weapons trafficking.

This was reported by the SBI.

According to the investigation, the suspect put up for sale two illegally obtained anti-tank grenade launchers and 10 cumulative anti-tank grenades with fuses. He sought out customers by posting ads on a messaging app and stored the “merchandise” in his garage.

When a buyer was found, the law enforcement officer arranged a meeting with him in Kramatorsk and sold the weapons and ammunition for 30,000 hryvnias.
SBI officers seized the grenade launchers and grenades with propellant charges. During a search of the suspect’s residence, two more grenades were also found.

The origin of the weapons and their affiliation with units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces are currently being determined. The suspect is charged under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—the illegal acquisition, storage, and sale of firearms.
