In the Kharkiv region, a medical examiner was caught selling fake pregnancy certificates to help people get out of military service
Law enforcement officials have notified an obstetrician-gynecologist—who serves on the military medical board of one of the military medical clinical centers in the Eastern Region—that she is under investigation.
Under the procedural guidance of the Kharkiv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense in the Eastern Region, she was exposed for a corruption scheme.
The woman offered female service members money to issue documents confirming a non-existent pregnancy, which would subsequently allow them to be completely discharged from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The corruption case began in late April 2026, when a serving female soldier consulted a doctor due to suspected pregnancy.
After conducting an official examination, the suspect informed the patient that she was not actually pregnant, but immediately offered to issue fake medical documents.
Initially, the representative of the Medical Examination Commission demanded $3,000 for her illegal services, but later reduced the amount to $2,500.
In exchange for this money, she promised to personally influence officials at medical facilities and other commission members to make the necessary decisions.
To carry out the criminal plan, in May 2026, the suspect sent the female service member to a private medical center to confirm the fictitious condition.
There, as previously agreed and without an actual examination, an ultrasound report was issued indicating a pregnancy of 6–7 weeks.
Immediately afterward, the woman was sent to a public healthcare facility to be officially registered as pregnant.
On June 9, 2026, the doctor received the agreed-upon $2,500 in illicit benefits, after which she was detained at the scene of the crime.
