A man will stand trial in the Kherson region for the murder and rape of a 7-year-old girl and her mother
An indictment has been filed against a resident of the Kherson region who is accused of the intentional murder of two people and the rape of a minor.
According to the investigation, in July 2022, during the temporary occupation of Kherson, the man killed his 40-year-old ex-wife and her 7-year-old daughter. A forensic medical examination confirmed that the child had been raped prior to the murder, and that the cause of death for both victims was strangulation.
The man had been hiding from justice abroad for a long time, and as a result, he was notified in absentia of the charges against him in March 2025.
Thanks to cooperation between the prosecutor’s office, the international police cooperation unit, and the competent authorities of the Republic of Poland, he was detained and extradited to Ukraine on March 19, 2026.
