Undeclared goods worth 900,000 hryvnias were discovered at the border with Poland
Over the weekend, at the “Rava-Ruska” border crossing, border guards from the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Detachment, together with customs officers, uncovered three attempts to illegally transport undeclared goods.
The violations were uncovered based on information provided by the border detachment’s operational staff. The total value of the goods that the individuals attempted to smuggle across the border without declaring them is nearly 900,000 hryvnias.
In the first case, during an inspection of a Mercedes driven by a 31-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast traveling from Poland, 154 pairs of new jeans of various brands were found in the trunk.
Later, in the trunk of another Mercedes driven by a 41-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, officials found another 60 pairs of new jeans and five bottles of perfume.
A third batch of goods was discovered in a Mercedes driven by a 38-year-old resident of the Chernivtsi region. He was transporting 21 goalie hockey sticks, shorts, three pairs of goalie pads, three pairs of skates, and two hockey chest protectors.
According to the drivers, they were transporting the goods from Poland to Ukraine as parcels.
The total estimated value of the seized goods is approximately 900,000 hryvnias.
Customs officers drew up the appropriate reports regarding the violations. The goods were seized and transferred to the customs warehouse.
