In the Khmelnytskyi region, an 11-year-old boy suffered shrapnel wounds and serious injuries as a result of an explosion caused by an unknown object.
The young child was rushed from the scene to the nearest medical facility.
Currently, relevant agencies and law enforcement are investigating all the circumstances and details of this dangerous incident.
The incident occurred on the evening of June 22 in the Shepetivka district.
At approximately 8:10 p.m., the local police dispatch center received an urgent report that a child had been injured in the village of Shchurivtsi due to the detonation of an unidentified object.
An investigative team, bomb disposal experts, and forensic specialists promptly arrived at the scene.
During the initial investigation, law enforcement officers determined that while out on a routine walk, the boy had found an unknown object with a white string attached, which exploded in his hand.
The victim promptly received emergency medical care from doctors. As a result, the child sustained a laceration to his left hand and was immediately hospitalized at the Izyaslav Multidisciplinary Hospital.
In response to this incident, investigators from the Shepetivka District Police Department promptly opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 263 (“Illegal Handling of Weapons, ammunition, or explosive substances” of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and are investigating all the circumstances of the incident.
