On June 23, in the Bucha District of Kyiv Oblast, law enforcement officers detained a 58-year-old man suspected of murdering his 64-year-old live-in partner during a conflict. According to the investigation, the tragedy was caused by a jealous argument.

The tragedy occurred in the village of Muzychi. According to the investigation, the unmarried couple was drinking alcohol at their temporary residence. During the gathering, a conflict broke out between them due to jealousy. In the heat of the argument, the man grabbed an axe and struck the woman at least 13 times on the legs with the blade.

The victim died at the scene from the resulting chop wounds, fractures, and significant blood loss before medical personnel arrived.

Law enforcement officers detained the suspect and placed him in a temporary detention facility. Investigators from the Bucha District Prosecutor’s Office have already notified him that he is suspected of intentional murder (Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The court ordered the suspect to be held in custody as a preventive measure. The suspect faces up to 15 years in prison for the crime, according to the Kyiv Region Police press service.
