The man accused of murdering Farion refused to testify in court
The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Lviv held another hearing in the case of the murder of linguist Iryna Farion. The defendant, Vyacheslav Zinchenko, stated that he is not yet ready to testify or fully participate in the court proceedings. According to him, the defense’s legal position has not yet been fully agreed upon due to a lack of time to review the case materials.
Attorney Larisa Kryvoruchko attributed this situation to restrictions imposed by the administration of the Lviv pretrial detention center. She noted that the head of the facility had prohibited Zinchenko from calling his defense attorney without a special court order, which is hindering the full preparation of the defense’s legal position.
Currently, the defense is only two-thirds ready; however, the defendant himself emphasized that he generally plans to speak and express his opinion later. The judges announced a recess in the proceedings, and the next court hearing in this case was scheduled for July 3.
