A soldier has been detained in the Kyiv region on suspicion of murdering a woman and a fellow soldier
In the Kyiv region, law enforcement officers detained a soldier suspected of murdering two people and attempting to murder another man.
The incident occurred on the evening of June 2 in the Fastiv district. A soldier contacted the police and reported that one of his colleagues had opened fire on fellow soldiers while on duty.
At the scene, law enforcement officers discovered the bodies of the soldier and a woman. Another man with gunshot wounds was hospitalized.
According to the investigation, the suspect was on duty while intoxicated. Driven by jealousy, he fired twice from an automatic rifle at a 53-year-old man, then went to a neighboring room where he shot a woman and another soldier, and subsequently fled.
The entire police force of the Kyiv region was mobilized to search for the suspect. The man was subsequently detained.
He was charged with attempted murder and the intentional murder of two people. The charges carry a sentence of up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.
