At the border with Poland, a service dog detected drugs hidden in a jar of body scrub

At the “Ustyluh” border crossing, a service dog from the State Customs Service detected drugs in the luggage of a 39-year-old Polish citizen who was entering Ukraine through the “green corridor.”

Inside a plastic jar that had previously contained body scrub, customs officers found more than 10 grams of cannabis and nearly 9 grams of amphetamine. Traces of narcotics were also found in the man’s fanny pack—on a smoking pipe and a special transparent plate.

All prohibited substances were seized and handed over to law enforcement. The incident has been preliminarily classified under Article 305 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—smuggling of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

Over the past 24 hours, border guards from the Volyn Detachment thwarted two attempts to smuggle drugs across the Ukrainian-Polish border. In both cases, the prohibited substances were detected by service dogs trained to detect drugs.

Law enforcement officers exposed and detained nine members of an organized criminal group who were distributing narcotics and psychotropic substances on a large scale throughout Ukraine, including to military personnel. The special operation was carried out with the assistance of the Military Law Enforcement Service, National Police officers, and the “KORD” special forces unit.
