A former military unit commander will stand trial in Luhansk Oblast for stealing 20,000 liters of fuel
The Luhansk Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Defense in the Eastern Region has filed an indictment against the former commander of a military unit and two of his subordinates.
This was reported by the agency’s press service.
The organizer and his accomplices are accused of embezzling nearly 20,000 liters of fuel intended for combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The embezzlement of state property lasted for six months—from May to October 2025.
The accused established a clear scheme: without proper documentation, they obtained fuel from the unit’s warehouses. Afterward, the perpetrators secretly transferred it into 200-liter metal drums.
The dealers regularly transported the stolen fuel to Zaporizhzhia, where they sold it to local residents for cash.
To cover up the crime and account for the shortage in the warehouses, the former commander entered false information into documents and illegally wrote off the materials.
The servicemen were caught red-handed in October 2025 while attempting to sell another batch of diesel fuel.
At the scene, law enforcement officers seized nearly 2 tons of fuel, which, by court order, has already been returned to the military unit for combat operations on the front lines.

In the Chernihiv region, border guards and police officers discovered a cache of ammunition in a non-residential building in one of the villages. Serviceable ammunition will be transferred to the Defense Forces, and unserviceable ammunition will be destroyed.
Meanwhile, the SBU’s military counterintelligence has located two more hidden arsenals of weapons and ammunition in frontline areas in southern and eastern Ukraine.
