An official in Lviv Oblast has been charged with misappropriating 94 million hryvnias intended for road repairs

The head of the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Lviv Oblast has been notified that he is suspected of misappropriating budget funds.

This was reported by NABU.

According to the investigation, in 2022, the official arranged for payment of major repair work on a parking area for heavy-duty vehicles on the M-10 Lviv–Krakivets highway using funds allocated for current expenditures. At the same time, he was aware that there were no budget allocations for such work.

NABU notes that expenditures for routine road repairs were given priority funding, which allowed for faster payment to the contractor.

As a result of these actions, in December 2022, the contractor was transferred over 92 million UAH in budget funds for purposes other than those intended. In 2023, an additional nearly 2 million UAH was paid for work on the same project.

The total amount of funds misappropriated is approximately 94 million hryvnias.

The official’s actions were classified under Part 2 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

NABU and the SAPO have completed their investigation into the case involving an alleged bribe offer to members of parliament by Yulia Tymoshenko, leader of the BYuT, and have made the case materials available to the defense prior to trial. The parliamentarian herself did not appear for the review.

As a reminder, the court lifted the seizure of some of Yulia Tymoshenko’s and her husband’s property.
