The grave of Taras Matviiv, a Hero of Ukraine, was vandalized in the Lviv region
In the town of Zhydachiv, unknown individuals desecrated the grave of defender Taras Matviiv. Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation and are identifying those involved in the incident.
It is noted that the police received a report about this on June 7 from the parents of the deceased Hero of Ukraine.
An investigative team worked at the scene.
According to preliminary findings by law enforcement, unidentified individuals damaged the grave of the Hero of Ukraine at the city cemetery in Zhydachiv.
Information regarding this incident has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—desecration of a grave, other burial site, or the body of a deceased person.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Police are identifying the perpetrators involved in the desecration of the grave.
The mother of Hero of Ukraine Valentyn Matviiv recorded a video at her son’s grave. She noted that two floodlights and solar panels from the lamps that illuminated the area had been stolen.
“It’s not about the cost; it’s about vandalism, about the barbaric, animalistic treatment of the burial site of our Heroes,” she emphasized.
