In the Lviv region, border guards seized gadgets worth more than 1.2 million hryvnias

At the “Rava-Ruska” and “Ugryniv” border crossing points, border guards from the Carpathian Detachment, together with customs officers, thwarted two attempts to illegally import equipment from Poland. The total value of the seized goods exceeds 1.2 million hryvnias.

In the first case, at the “Rava-Ruska” border crossing point, during an inspection of a Mercedes minivan driven by a 50-year-old resident of the Prykarpattia region, five undeclared Apple laptops worth over 460,000 hryvnias were discovered; the man was transporting them among his personal belongings. 

The second incident was recorded at the “Ugryniv” checkpoint, where a 24-year-old man from Volyn attempted to smuggle 90 smartphones of various brands across the border. The younger driver had hidden the goods, worth over 800,000 hryvnias, in a specially equipped hiding place in the cab of a truck that was transporting passenger cars as humanitarian aid. Customs officers drew up reports on both incidents and seized all the devices.
