In the Mykolaiv region, a teenager shot a peer in the eye with an air gun

In Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv Oblast, a 15-year-old boy fired an air gun while relaxing on the beach and hit a girl his age in the eye. The girl was hospitalized in serious condition.

The incident occurred on August 9 at one of Pervomaisk’s city beaches.

According to the investigation, the 15-year-old boy had brought an air gun with him. While relaxing, he fired several shots from it.

One of the shots hit a girl he knew who was standing nearby in the eye. After that, the boy threw the gun away.

A friend of the victim, who was also vacationing with her, contacted law enforcement.

The injured girl was taken to the hospital. Doctors currently assess her condition as serious.

Police detained the 15-year-old boy and charged him under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—intentional grievous bodily injury.

Law enforcement officers found the air gun and sent it for forensic examination.

The court is expected to determine a pretrial measure for the suspect in the near future.

If found guilty, the teenager faces up to eight years in prison.

The pretrial investigation is currently ongoing, and law enforcement officials are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Police.

Earlier, a court ordered pretrial detention without the right to bail for an 18-year-old man who wounded a 16-year-old girl on public transportation.

Earlier, a video surfaced online showing police officers fleeing from a gunman during a terrorist attack in Kyiv on April 18, leaving civilians behind, including a child.
