In the Carpathian region, an elderly man has been charged with child sexual abuse
In the Carpathian region, a 65-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk has been charged with the systematic sexual abuse of young children.
The illegal acts took place over several years, beginning in 2022.
According to the investigation, the man regularly visited one of the villages in the region, where he owned a vacation home. There, he gained the trust of several local families with children.
He then used various pretexts to invite the minors to his home, where he sexually abused them.
Currently, two male victims are known, who were 8 and 11 years old at the time.
A photograph taken by one of the boys while at the suspect’s home helped expose him. Adults saw the photo and passed the information on to law enforcement.
The man was arrested on June 6, and a search warrant was executed at his home. He is charged with repeated sexual assault against individuals under the age of 14, not involving penetration.
The court ordered the suspect to be held in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment.
Currently, investigators are identifying other potential victims who may have suffered as a result of the suspect’s actions.
