A gang of repeat offenders was arrested in the Carpathian region for robbing a currency exchange office of 9 million hryvnias
Law enforcement officials have detained three residents of the Chernihiv region suspected of robbing a currency exchange office in Ivano-Frankivsk and stealing nearly 9 million hryvnias.
This was reported by the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, the suspects are three residents of Nizhyn aged 43, 46, and 66, who have previous convictions for robbery, theft, arson, and illegal possession of weapons.
Investigators established that prior to the attack, the suspects had traveled to Ivano-Frankivsk several times to conduct reconnaissance, using vehicles with fake license plates.
On September 24, 2025, according to the investigation, they entered the premises of the sports and restaurant complex where the victim worked and lived. The attackers beat the man, handcuffed him, then used his keys to unlock the premises and stole cash in various currencies totaling nearly 9 million hryvnias from the safe.
In addition to the money, the perpetrators took the victim’s passport and real estate documents.
The suspects have been charged with robbery. They face up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
