A two-year-old boy drowned in an artificial pond in the Rivne region
In the Sarny District of the Rivne Region, a two-year-old boy tragically died after drowning in an artificial pond near his grandfather’s house. The police have launched a preliminary investigation.
According to preliminary information from law enforcement, the tragedy occurred on July 20. In the morning, a 31-year-old woman arrived with her five children to visit her father. The children were playing in the yard near the house. Later, the grandfather noticed that his youngest grandson was missing. Together with the mother, they immediately began searching for him.
Around 6:15 p.m., the child was found in an artificial pond located near the house.
Before the emergency medical team arrived, the family tried to resuscitate the boy on their own. Upon arrival, the paramedics continued resuscitation efforts, but they were unable to save the child.
Currently, an investigator is conducting a pre-trial investigation under paragraph 2, part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional murder of a minor child), classified as an “accident.” Law enforcement officials are determining all the circumstances of the tragedy.
The police have once again emphasized that the safety of children is the responsibility of adults, and accidents in the water can happen in a matter of minutes. Law enforcement officials urge parents not to leave children unattended, especially near bodies of water, and to teach them the rules of safe behavior around water.

As a reminder, in the Saltivsky District of Kharkiv, a three-year-old boy died after falling from a fifth-floor window of an apartment building. The tragedy occurred on July 19 at approximately 4:25 p.m. The child died at the scene from his injuries.
In Lviv, 21 children were hospitalized over the past month and a half after riding electric scooters.
