A soldier will stand trial in Vinnytsia Oblast for the rape and brutal murder of a 15-year-old girl

In the Vinnytsia region, a case has been referred to court involving a 26-year-old Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier accused of desertion, sexual assault of a minor, and intentional homicide committed to conceal another crime.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

According to the investigation, the tragic events took place between July and October 2025 in the Vinnytsia district. After receiving medical treatment at his place of residence, the soldier did not return to his unit and did not report the reasons for his absence.

During this period, the man met women through social media. He eventually began communicating with a girl who was 14 years old at the time they met. A month before the tragedy, the victim turned 15.

The investigation established that the defendant, through pressure and manipulation, forced the minor to meet with him on two occasions, during which he committed sexual acts against her.

During their last meeting in October, the girl stated that she wanted to end their relationship and might go to the police. After that, according to law enforcement, the man decided to kill the victim to avoid responsibility.

The accused put the girl on a motorcycle and took her to an abandoned building in a neighboring community. There, according to the case file, he raped the victim and then fatally beat her with a wooden bat that he had brought with him from home.

The girl died at the scene from her injuries.

After the murder, the man wrapped the body in a blanket and threw it into a well in the yard. He also disposed of the victim’s personal belongings, his own clothing with traces of the crime, and the murder weapon there.

The suspect was arrested a day later at his parents’ home. He is currently in custody.

The case has been referred to court for trial.

At the same time, in accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

As a reminder, in Dnipro, law enforcement officers detained a 40-year-old man suspected of involvement in the death of an 11-year-old child. The boy was strangled and, likely, raped.

Earlier, a court ordered pretrial detention for two residents of the Chernivtsi district suspected of murdering a 21-year-old woman.

A Kyiv court sentenced a Kyiv resident who fatally stabbed his friend during a party. According to police, the conflict between the men arose from an argument over loud music. The court, having considered the evidence presented by the investigation, handed down a sentence of 11 years in prison.
