A poacher who caught crucian carp worth 90,000 hryvnias was apprehended in the Vyshhorod district
The Kyiv Regional Police documented an incident of illegal fishing near the Irpin River, where a 56-year-old man was using nets in violation of the spawning ban. As a result of these illegal actions, the state suffered financial losses amounting to over 90,000 hryvnias.

At the scene, the investigative team seized fishing gear and illegally caught aquatic biological resources as evidence. Under the procedural guidance of the Vyshhorod District Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article provides for liability for illegal fishing activities that have caused significant harm.
Currently, law enforcement officials are establishing all the circumstances of the offense committed under martial law and Russian aggression. The police emphasize the need for strict compliance with fishing regulations and environmental protection laws during the spawning season. The offender faces punishment in accordance with current legislation for destroying the region’s ecosystem.
