14 people died in Ukraine's bodies of water over the past week, according to the State Emergency Service

Last week alone, 14 people, including one child, died as a result of accidents on Ukraine’s bodies of water.

In total, since the beginning of June, 64 incidents involving swimmers have been recorded, resulting in the deaths of 53 people, including nine children.

The State Emergency Service emphasizes that the situation is rapidly deteriorating.

“The number of deaths among citizens in the country’s bodies of water during the summer season continues to rise rapidly… The main cause of such incidents is usually a disregard for safety rules and insufficient parental supervision. Adults must exercise the utmost vigilance and under no circumstances leave children unattended near rivers and lakes,” the statement reads.

According to rescue workers, the key causes of these tragedies remain violations of water safety rules and insufficient supervision of children while swimming.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).

Earlier, experts from the State Audit Service uncovered flagrant violations in the Petrivka Village Council, where business owners had illegally seized the coastal strip and frightened people with landmines.
