There are plans to build a new wind farm in Volyn

Plans are underway to build a new wind farm in Volyn with a total capacity of 50 MW. The project is currently undergoing public review, after which the company will be able to move on to the next stages of implementation.

According to preliminary estimates, the power plant will generate approximately 172,000 megawatt-hours of electricity per year. To achieve this, the company plans to install about 14 modern wind turbines.

Construction of the wind farm is planned for the Kovel District in Volyn Oblast. The project is being managed by Zakhidna VES 5 LLC. A public consultation is currently underway, during which local residents and anyone else interested can review the project and submit their comments or suggestions. According to the project documentation, the plan is to install about 14 wind turbines with a capacity ranging from 3.5 to 8 MW each. The final type of turbines will be determined during the development of the detailed design.

It is expected that the tower height of each turbine will reach up to 175 meters, and the rotor diameter will be up to 180 meters. Approximately one hectare of land will be required to accommodate a single turbine. The new wind farm is expected to generate about 172,000 megawatt-hours of electricity annually.

The project also provides for compliance with health and safety requirements. In particular, the distance from the wind turbines to the nearest residential buildings must be at least 700 meters. The plan is to leave approximately 400 meters between the turbines themselves, although this distance may vary depending on the terrain and wind conditions. The project is being implemented by Zakhidna VES 5 LLC, a member of the TKS corporate group, which operates in the construction, real estate, and renewable energy sectors.

According to YouControl, the company was registered in August 2025. Its authorized capital is 50,000 hryvnias, and Ivan Torskyi is listed as the ultimate beneficial owner.

Once the public consultation is complete and a positive environmental impact assessment is received, the company will be able to move on to the next stages of the project and begin preparations for the construction of the wind farm. This information comes from the consulting firm ExPro.

The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NKREKP) adopted a decision exempting owners of damaged or destroyed housing from natural gas distribution fees if the house or apartment cannot be used due to its unsafe technical condition.
