A 12-year-old boy drowned in the Styr River in Volyn
In the village of Chartoryisk, Kamin-Kashirsky District, Volyn Oblast, a boy born in 2014 drowned in the Styr River. The tragedy occurred on August 5.
According to preliminary information, the child left home on a bicycle. Later, his bicycle and clothing were found near the river, after which a search operation was launched.
Rescue workers, law enforcement officers, and local residents joined the search. Late in the evening, the boy’s body was found in the water by his fellow villagers.
Law enforcement is currently investigating the circumstances of the tragedy.
Rescue workers are urging parents to keep track of their children’s whereabouts, explain to them the dangers of swimming without adult supervision, and not leave them alone near bodies of water.
