An FSB agent who was spying on the railway system to facilitate Russian attacks has been detained in Volyn
An FSB agent has been detained in Volyn for spying on Ukrzaliznytsia trains, which Russia had planned to target in order to disrupt the logistics of the Armed Forces.
This was reported by the SBU press service.
The enemy’s mission was carried out by a recruited unemployed resident of Poltava, who came to the attention of Russian intelligence agencies while searching for “easy money” on Telegram channels.
“After being recruited, the agent went on a ‘business trip’ to the Volyn region and settled in a rented apartment near the train station. On the windowsill of his temporary residence, the suspect installed a phone camera with a live feed for Russian intelligence officers,” the SBU statement reads.
Russian intelligence services attempted to calculate the arrival times of trains in order to launch a targeted strike against them.
SBU military counterintelligence officers documented the agent’s espionage activities and detained him. During a search, several smartphones were seized from the suspect, which he used to communicate with the FSB and record videos of moving trains. It was further established that the agent was conducting reconnaissance activities in the Poltava region, tracking the locations of mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces.

To conceal their communications, the suspect and his FSB handler used pre-arranged code words and icons in an anonymous messenger chat.
The man has been notified of suspicion of treason. The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
