In Transcarpathia, a man threatened his wife and two children with a grenade
In Khust, law enforcement officers detained a local resident who, during a domestic dispute, threatened to detonate a live grenade in a house where his wife and two sons were present.
Police officers quickly evacuated the woman and children from the dangerous premises and isolated the perpetrator.
The live ammunition was seized and sent for examination; currently, the family’s lives are not in danger.
The incident occurred on the night of June 14. The 911 hotline received a report of domestic violence at a private residence in the city.
The caller, in a panic, reported that her husband was acting aggressively and threatening to detonate an explosive device right in the room.
Emergency services and special forces arrived at the scene immediately. Police officers carried out a rapid evacuation operation, removing the woman and her sons, aged 14 and 18, from the line of fire.
The suspect was detained at the scene in accordance with procedural rules and placed in a temporary detention facility.
During a search of the house, investigators discovered and safely seized a combat grenade that the man had used for blackmail.
Investigators have already opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—illegal handling of weapons and ammunition.
Separately, law enforcement agencies will conduct a legal assessment of the facts regarding systematic domestic violence and direct death threats against close relatives.
This was reported by the Transcarpathian Regional Police.
