In Transcarpathia, a lawyer and a college director will stand trial over a $25,000 payment deferral scheme
In Zakarpattia, an indictment has been filed against a lawyer and the director of a regional branch of a private college, who are accused of organizing a scheme to provide fictitious employment to individuals subject to military service in order to obtain a deferment from mobilization.
According to the investigation, for $25,000, a person subject to military service was hired for a management position at the educational institution. In reality, he did not have to actually work—it was enough just to show up at the college periodically so as not to arouse suspicion.
In addition, the man was required to open a bank account for the deposit of his “salary” and hand it over to the scheme’s organizers, as well as pay taxes and the unified social contribution on the fictitious salary each month out of his own pocket.
Both suspects are charged with receiving unlawful benefits as part of a premeditated conspiracy by a group of individuals. They are currently in custody, with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of approximately 1.1 million hryvnias each.
