A scheme to sell government positions with "immunity" from mobilization for $25,000 was uncovered in Transcarpathia

Law enforcement officials in Zakarpattia have uncovered a scheme involving the illegal employment of individuals subject to military service, followed by the issuance of “exemptions” from mobilization. According to the investigation, the director of a private college and the head of the institution’s legal department—who is also a lawyer—were involved in organizing the scheme.

According to law enforcement officials, the 50-year-old head of the legal department, using his knowledge of the law and his official position, organized a scheme to illegally employ men of draft age.

To carry out the scheme, he enlisted the help of the director of the educational institution.

According to investigators, the suspects offered one of the men subject to military service a position as head of a training laboratory, which would have allowed him to obtain a legal exemption and avoid mobilization.

At the same time, law enforcement officials claim, the man was not required to perform any actual work. He only needed to show up at the college once a week so as not to arouse suspicion among his colleagues.

For this “service,” the suspects demanded 25,000 U.S. dollars. In addition, under their terms, the “client” was required to hand over his payroll bank card and pay 4,500 hryvnias in cash each month, ostensibly to cover tax payments.

Law enforcement officials have documented the activities of those involved in the scheme. The investigation is ongoing, during which all the circumstances of the case are being established, as well as the possible involvement of other individuals in the illegal sale of positions with “immunity” from mobilization.

This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

Earlier in the capital, law enforcement uncovered a scheme of illegal evasion of mobilization. A 51-year-old Kyiv resident is suspected of extorting $18,000 to arrange “exemption,” deferment from conscription, and organize travel abroad for a person subject to military service.
