An attempt to illegally import medicines under the guise of humanitarian aid was uncovered in Transcarpathia
At the “Dyakove” customs post, officers from the Transcarpathian Customs Service discovered an undeclared shipment of medications in a truck carrying humanitarian aid. A 47-year-old director of a Zhytomyr-based charitable foundation attempted to import 500 packages of blood-thinning medications and eye drops manufactured in Italy and Germany. The total value of the goods exceeds 700,000 hryvnias.
The foundation’s director was charged with failing to declare the goods under Article 472 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. The undeclared medicines were seized pending a court decision, and the offender faces a fine ranging from 50 to 100 percent of the value of the medicines, followed by their confiscation.
