In Zaporizhzhia, charges were filed against accountants in a case involving combat pay
On August 3, officials from the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) announced new charges against the former head of the financial and economic service of a military unit in Zaporizhzhia and ten of his subordinates. According to the investigation, accountants stationed in the rear illegally received additional payments of up to 100,000 hryvnias as combatants.
It is noted that the unit’s financial service was actually located in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Despite this, its head entered false information into official documents stating that the accountants were allegedly directly participating in combat operations in the Zaporizhzhia sector.
Based on these documents, they received 100,000 hryvnias per month in additional compensation intended for military personnel on the front lines.
Each of the accountants was illegally paid between 100,000 and over 500,000 hryvnias. In total, from August 2023 to October 2024, the amount of unjustified payments amounted to nearly 4 million hryvnias.
In addition, one of the financial service employees took advantage of the lack of proper oversight and embezzled another 7.4 million hryvnias intended for payments to military personnel. For this crime, the court has already sentenced him to 8 years in prison.

- The suspects face up to 8 years in prison.

As a reminder, law enforcement officials in the Odesa region uncovered the organizer of an illegal scheme to smuggle conscripts abroad. According to police, 147 men were being smuggled out of the country under the guise of sailors.
The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police have uncovered nine new schemes for evading mobilization in various regions of the country. As part of special operations, 23 organizers of these schemes were detained; they had been helping conscripts avoid conscription or illegally leave the country in exchange for money.
