Repairs to a key power transmission line have been completed at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant
At the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, repairs have been completed on the “Dniprovska” power transmission line, which had been out of service since March 2026. At the same time, the full restoration of the facility’s operations remains challenging due to the occupation of the plant.
Repairs to a key power transmission line and other energy infrastructure facilities critical to nuclear safety have been completed at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. However, it is not yet possible to resume operations due to damage to a substation.
The International Atomic Energy Agency stated that the repair work, carried out as part of a temporary local ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, involved two facilities: the “Dniprovska” with a voltage of 750 kV and the distribution substation of the Zaporizhzhia Thermal Power Plant, which supplies the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant with electricity via the “Ferosplavna-1” backup line with a voltage of 330 kV.
However, the “Dniprovska” line has not yet been put into operation due to significant damage to the substation that connects it.
“The line has been repaired, but it still needs to be put into operation,” said IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.
According to Reuters, repairs to the substation are ongoing, but the work is not expected to be completed in the near future.
