The lowest summer temperature in 80 years was recorded in the Zhytomyr region
A new temperature record was set in the Zhytomyr region on the night of August 13. In Korosten, the air temperature dropped to +4.9°C—the lowest reading for this date in the entire history of observations.
At the Korosten weather station, the temperature dropped to +4.9°C overnight.
This broke the previous all-time low for August 13, which had stood since 1998.
At that time, the temperature dropped to +7.3°C. Consequently, this year’s reading was 2.4°C lower than the previous record.
It is worth noting that meteorological observations in Korosten have been conducted since 1945.
The new temperature record was set amid a sharp change in weather conditions across Ukraine. Following a period of abnormal heat, an atmospheric front began moving across the country from west to east.
Its passage is accompanied by rain and thunderstorms, and hail and squalls are possible in some regions.
According to the forecast by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, a cooler air mass will move into Ukraine after the front passes. In most regions, daytime temperatures will range from about +24 to +30°C, and nighttime temperatures from +15 to +23°C.
Temperatures may drop further in the coming days—to +24...+29°C during the day and +12...+17°C at night. At the same time, warmer weather will persist in Zakarpattia, southern, and eastern Ukraine.

On Thursday, August 13, variable cloud cover and a gradual easing of the heat are forecast for Ukraine. Meteorologists do not expect any precipitation.
