"Naftogaz" will continue to pursue debt collection from "Gazprom"
Koretsky noted that Ukrainian lawyers are examining the overturning of the Kazakh court’s decision regarding Gazprom’s debt.
“Naftogaz is taking into account the public comments made by officials during the proceedings and expects that further proceedings will be conducted in accordance with the principles of the rule of law, judicial independence, and Kazakhstan’s international obligations,” the official said.
The head of Naftogaz assured that the company is using all available legal mechanisms to collect the more than $1.4 billion awarded by international arbitration. And despite certain procedural decisions in specific jurisdictions, it will continue this work.
How the appeal of the court decision in Kazakhstan is proceeding
According to Koretsky, work is ongoing simultaneously in several countries and will continue, in particular, in Kazakhstan.
“We will continue to consistently defend the company’s interests and ensure the enforcement of international arbitration awards.”
The official added that, at the same time, Gazprom’s debt to Naftogaz continues to grow. Interest is accruing daily on this amount. Therefore, the full amount will be recovered from the Russian company in favor of Naftogaz.
This was reported with reference to a statement by Serhiy Koretskyi, chairman of the board of NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine,” on Facebook.
Naftogaz will finance the restoration of the Lavra and the Dovzhenko Film Studio.
