The largest gold deposits in Ukraine are concentrated in the Ukrainian Shield

The largest gold reserves in Ukraine are located within the Ukrainian Shield. Experts estimate that up to 75–80% of the country’s total gold resources may be found there.

This is reported by the resource “Mineral Resources of Ukraine.”

The Ukrainian Shield stretches more than 1,000 kilometers along the middle reaches of the Dnipro River, and its width reaches approximately 250 kilometers.

It is in this area that Ukraine’s main gold-bearing deposits are concentrated. Among them are:

— Serhiivske deposit
— Klynivske deposit
— Maiske deposit
— Yurivske deposit
— “Zolota Balka”
— “Shyroka Balka”

Experts note that there could potentially be significantly more gold deposits within the Ukrainian Shield, but the region requires further geological exploration.

Ukraine also has two other gold-bearing provinces, but it is the Ukrainian Shield that is considered the largest center of precious metal reserves in the country.

Global gold prices have plummeted, and the market is reacting to several factors at once—a strengthening dollar, high interest rates, and expectations of new decisions by central banks. Investors are becoming increasingly cautious about holding non-yielding assets, which is putting additional pressure on the precious metal.

Gold has fallen to its lowest level in the past two months. According to Reuters, despite geopolitical tensions, the metal is losing its appeal amid high interest rates because it does not generate investment income.
