The oldest participant in the 2026 National Mathematics Olympiad is 73 years old
The oldest test-taker who will take the national multi-subject test this year is 73 years old. Overall, the number of people wishing to take the NMT has been steadily increasing, despite various demographic and social factors.
This was reported by Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi in an interview with Radio Svoboda.
More than 350,000 people have already registered to take the National Multidisciplinary Test in 2026. The number of registrations and admissions to Ukrainian universities has been increasing for the third consecutive year. In particular, about 30,000 applications were received from Ukrainians living abroad who plan to study in Ukraine.
The head of the Ministry of Education and Science noted that the permission for men aged 18 to 22 to travel abroad has not caused a critical outflow of students. Instead, there is significant demand for Ukrainian universities that can guarantee safe in-person learning—especially in Zhytomyr, Lutsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Uzhhorod, and other western regions.
