MP Tishchenko Faces New Charges in a Case Involving Extortion and Money Laundering

Incumbent Member of Parliament Mykola Tyshchenko has been charged with a new offense. According to investigators, the charges relate to the extortion of $1 million in exchange for so-called “protection” of a call center’s operations, as well as the laundering of 12.6 million hryvnias through a fictitious gift agreement.

Law enforcement officials notified the MP of the charges as part of an investigation into the alleged extortion of funds and laundering of illegally obtained income.

At the direction of the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), a prosecutor, accompanied by NABU detectives, notified the sitting member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the charges. He was caught requesting an unlawful benefit, laundering funds, and providing false information in his annual financial disclosure statement, according to a statement from the SAPO.

As part of the pre-trial investigation, according to the SAPO, it was established that in August 2023, the MP asked for $1 million from a citizen whom he considered to be one of the organizers of a network of call centers. In return, the MP promised not to interfere with their activities and to help eliminate competing companies. However, he never received the money for these services.

Additionally, as reported by the SAPO, it was revealed that the deputy laundered 12.6 million hryvnias through a fictitious gift agreement concluded with his ex-wife. It was proven that the woman had no legal income to make such a gift, and no actual transfer of money took place.

To definitively launder the illegal proceeds, as stated by the SAP, the deputy officially included false information about this “gift” in his annual financial disclosure statement.

Tyshchenko’s actions have been classified under Part 4 of Article 369, Part 2 of Article 209, and Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

This was reported by the SAPO press service.

As a reminder, MP Tishchenko will be forcibly brought to court in the case involving the beating of a former Kraken unit soldier.

A court in Dnipro imposed a preventive measure on Mykola Tyshchenko, a People’s Deputy from the “Servant of the People” party, in the case involving the beating of a former fighter from the Ministry of Defense’s Main Intelligence Directorate unit “Kraken.”

MP Mykola Tyshchenko appeared in the Verkhovna Rada after his pretrial measure was eased. He is accused of unlawful deprivation of liberty.

In October, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court held a hearing in the case involving MP Mykola Tyshchenko and former police officer Bohdan Pysarenko. They are accused of unlawfully depriving Dmytro Mazokha, a former fighter with the “Kraken” special forces unit, of his liberty.
