Nova Poshta will suspend operations at its branches during alerts
"Nova Poshta" will suspend operations at its facilities in the event of an air raid alert. Employees must leave their workplaces and proceed to the nearest shelters, regardless of the type of threat. To minimize delivery delays, the company is adjusting its logistics and distributing the workload among different facilities.
Nova Poshta is implementing a standardized procedure for responding to air raid alerts. If an alert is declared in the region, operations at the company’s facilities must stop immediately. Employees then proceed to the nearest shelter. This rule will apply regardless of the type of air threat reported.
The company emphasizes that people’s safety is the top priority. That is why, during an air raid alert, employees will not resume work even in cases where only a brief interruption is expected. “People’s lives and safety are our absolute priority. In the event of an air raid alert, regardless of the type of threat, a clear and strict protocol is in place: all work processes are immediately halted, and employees proceed to the nearest shelter,” Nova Poshta stated. Once the alert is over, employees will be able to return to their workstations and resume operations.
How This Will Affect Delivery
Obviously, forced stoppages can affect the speed of processing and delivering shipments. Nova Poshta says it prepares its system in advance for such pauses. The company is increasing staffing where necessary and redistributing the workload among different facilities. This should help process packages more quickly once the air raid alert ends.
Nova Poshta is also adjusting its logistics routes. The company will take the situation in different regions into account and, if necessary, reroute shipments through other facilities. Another way to reduce potential delays is by adding additional operating hours. To do this, the company is taking advantage of the opportunities that have arisen following the easing of the curfew. In other words, once the air raid alert ends, logistics operations will be able to run for longer hours. This should partially make up for the time when operations were forced to pause.
“Nova Poshta” Is Changing Its Operating Model
At the same time, the company is gradually transitioning to a decentralized fulfillment model. Simply put, Nova Poshta does not want to rely on a few large hubs through which a significant portion of its operations pass. Instead, operations and inventory are distributed among a larger number of sites in different regions of the country. This approach allows the company to be more flexible during emergencies. If operations at one facility are temporarily suspended, part of the workload can be redirected to other sites.
This applies not only to air raid alerts. The decentralized system is also intended to help the company adapt more quickly to changes in the security situation and customer needs. The press office notes that this process is still ongoing. Therefore, it is not yet possible to specify a specific date for the completion of the transition to the new model. “It is therefore incorrect to speak of a final point of transition, as we are adapting the system in accordance with the security situation and the needs of the company or our customers,” the company explained.
Why “Nova Poshta” Isn’t Disclosing Details
The company also does not disclose the exact locations of the new facilities, the volumes of goods stored there, or the routes of the backup delivery routes. “Nova Poshta” cites security concerns as the reason. Detailed information about the locations of logistics facilities and cargo movement routes could be sensitive during wartime.
Therefore, customers should not expect a public map of all backup facilities or routes. The company plans to adjust its logistics based on the situation and not disclose information that could create additional risks.
