Zelenskyy Reported a Severe Shortage of Funds in Ukraine
Due to the consequences of the war, Ukraine is facing a massive deficit in the state budget. However, there are ways to address this issue before winter sets in, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during a conversation with the media at the “Carpathian Eight” meeting.
According to the president, Ukraine faces a “massive budget deficit,” but is working to resolve the situation.
“Yesterday I spoke with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and we will meet with her in the near future. We are preparing some proposals to address the deficit—the ‘astronomical’ one I mentioned—between us,” Zelenskyy said.
Ukraine will find a way out of this situation: “I already know some things. Agreements are already in place,” the president clarified.
As a reminder, on September 18, Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi announced plans to overhaul the system of public administration, specifically to downsize the central executive bodies and reduce the number of deputy ministers.
Due to problems with the receipt of international funding, the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance has postponed until December a portion of the capital expenditures originally planned for September through November.
The Autostrada Group of Companies announced the suspension of work at all its sites in Ukraine. The company’s founder, Maksym Shkil, attributed this decision to the government’s suspension of funding for capital expenditures. According to him, the company was presented with a fait accompli without prior discussion.
