A woman was transporting a shipment of contraband iPhones to Lviv disguised as juice
At the “Shehyni” border crossing, border guards from the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Detachment, working together with customs officials, prevented an attempt to import high-value equipment without proper declaration or payment of taxes.
The
smuggler turned out to be a 47-year-old woman from the Khmelnytskyi region who was traveling from Poland to Ukraine via the pedestrian crossing. During a thorough inspection of her personal belongings using a scanning system, hidden smartphones were discovered: three in a box of laundry detergent capsules and another seven in a juice carton.
A total of 10 iPhone 17 Pro smartphones were found. The value of the goods is currently being assessed, according to a post by the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine on its Facebook page.
The woman admitted that she intended to resell the smartphones in Lviv. Customs officials drew up a report regarding the discovered offense. The goods were seized and taken to a customs warehouse.
