The new head of Naftogaz will be selected through a transparent competition, says Koretsky
Personnel changes at Naftogaz of Ukraine will be determined by the company’s supervisory board. The new chairman of the management board is expected to be selected through a transparent competition in accordance with corporate governance principles.
“I believe that Naftogaz has one of the best corporate governance structures in place. It has a supervisory board, and that board will directly address the issue of upcoming personnel changes. In any case, a transparent competition will be announced in accordance with best practices in corporate governance,” Koretskyi noted.
The Prime Minister separately noted that he considers the optimal option to be appointing a new head after the end of the 2026/2027 heating season.
According to him, this will allow the heating season to proceed smoothly and without additional personnel-related risks.
“Ideally, the new CEO should take office after the heating season so that we can get through it smoothly,” the Prime Minister said.
Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi made this statement during Question Time in the Verkhovna Rada while responding to a question regarding the appointment of a new head of Naftogaz.
The Russian Federation—an aggressor state—launched 13 attacks on Naftogaz of Ukraine facilities with missiles and drones over the past week, the company reported. Since the beginning of the year, Russia has attacked its facilities nearly 300 times. The latest strikes caused significant damage to equipment and production facilities, though no one was injured.
The news of the possible appointment of former Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko as chair of Naftogaz of Ukraine came as a surprise to the company’s supervisory board and international partners. This was stated by Tor Martin Anfinnsen, a member of the supervisory board.
