The head of the Mykolaiv Territorial Election Commission was suspended on suspicion of accepting a $15,000 bribe

The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Territorial Recruitment Center and Joint Staff was suspended from his post following allegations that he extorted and received $15,000 in bribes.

According to the investigation, the official demanded money in exchange for not taking mobilization measures against three men subject to military service, removing their data from the wanted list in the “Oberig” system, and facilitating their continued employment at their current jobs.

In addition, he allegedly promised to intervene so that a man who had already been mobilized would not be sent to a military unit but would instead be sent for a repeat medical examination.

The court ordered the suspect to be held in pretrial detention, with the option to post bail in the amount of 4.659 million hryvnias.

He is charged with receiving an unlawful benefit as a public official. The pretrial investigation is ongoing.

As a reminder, during Operation “Honest Draft,” law enforcement uncovered illegal activities by two recruitment groups from the Kyiv District Military Registration and Enlistment Office and the Odesa Joint Staff. Ten military personnel were notified of the charges against them.

Earlier, law enforcement officials detained the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office on suspicion of receiving illicit benefits totaling 15,000 U.S. dollars. According to the investigation, the official was caught in the act of receiving 10,000 dollars in exchange for failing to take mobilization measures against three conscripts, removing them from the “Oberig” system’s wanted list, and ensuring conditions for their continued employment at their places of work.

In Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, a senior lieutenant—the deputy company commander at one of the district Military Registration and Enlistment Offices—was detained on suspicion of assaulting a subordinate servicemember. The man was intoxicated at the time.
