Russia is preparing a new wave of attacks on Ukraine
Russia is preparing a new wave of attacks on Ukraine and may strike from the north and east. Yuriy Ignat, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, stated that the enemy has amassed a significant number of drones and may deploy them in the near future. According to him, the Russian military is also switching to different types of drones to complicate the work of Ukrainian air defense forces.
Russia is preparing a new wave of attacks on Ukraine. Yuriy Ignat, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, made this statement during a televised marathon. According to him, the Russian military has amassed a significant number of drones and may use them for a new attack.
“There is information that the enemy may attack today from both the north and the east,” Ignat said. He urged Ukrainians not to ignore air raid alerts and to follow announcements from the Air Force.
Russia has stockpiled a large number of drones
Ignat said that Russia has recently been actively using drones with internal combustion engines—that is, drones without jet engines. According to him, these are the types of drones currently being used most extensively. During previous attacks, they have, in particular, reached the western regions of Ukraine.
Russia uses various types of attack drones. This allows its military to change tactics and attempt to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defense system. It’s not just about the number of drones launched. Another important factor is that they can vary in speed, route, flight altitude, and other characteristics. Because of this, the Ukrainian military must respond quickly to different types of aerial targets.
Why Is Russia Changing the Types of Drones It Uses?
Yuriy Ignat explained that Russia is trying to regularly change its tactics during attacks. According to him, the enemy is looking for ways to catch Ukrainian air defense off guard. To do this, the Russian military may combine different types of drones and other weapons.
“The enemy is always planning some kind of unexpected operation to catch our air defense off guard, using various types of munitions,” explained the Air Force spokesperson. Thus, the use of drones with different capabilities is part of Russian tactics. Moscow is trying to find weaknesses in Ukraine’s defenses and complicate the operations of mobile fire groups, anti-aircraft missile systems, and other air defense assets.
What to Expect in the Near Future
According to Ignat, a new attack could take place in the very near future. He specifically highlighted the possibility of launches from the north and east. At the same time, it is impossible to determine in advance the exact time, scale, and routes of a future attack. Russian forces may change launch directions and tactics even during the attack. Therefore, the Air Force urges Ukrainians to respond to air raid alerts. During an attack, it is important not to ignore warnings and to take cover.
Russia continues to use massive drone attacks as one of its primary methods of striking Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian military is constantly trying to change its tactics to complicate the work of Ukraine’s air defense. Yuriy Ignat, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, made this statement during a televised marathon.
