Zelenskyy discussed options for leading Ukraine out of the financial crisis with the prime minister and the finance minister
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance regarding the state budget. To cover the budget deficit and ensure the necessary payments, Parliament and the government must work in the most coordinated manner possible.
“The list of laws and government decisions that need to be adopted is quite specific. This is not about wishes or politics. Every decision represents funds needed for Ukraine to function and defend itself. I ask lawmakers to deliver this financial result through their votes as early as this week,” he said.
In addition, the head of state noted, it is necessary to verify what is happening within the tax service and other agencies to ensure they are fully and effectively contributing to the state budget.
Zelenskyy also called on the Rada to put an end to the issue of fraudulent call centers in Ukraine—bills imposing strict criminal liability are on the agenda.
“I ask all members of parliament to similarly support the decision tomorrow to dismiss the Prosecutor General. The motion for dismissal is before the Verkhovna Rada; I have submitted it. Ukraine has seen the reasons for this, and there should be enough votes,” the President concluded.
This was discussed at a meeting between the President, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of Finance, according to Ukrinform, citing a post by Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram.
Zelenskyy is awaiting concrete proposals from the U.S. regarding a ceasefire in the air.
Ukraine has proposed that Russia agree to cease strikes on infrastructure, Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy warned Russia of a response to attacks on the energy sector.
