Power has been restored in Odesa following the Russian attack, but emergency blackouts are still in effect
Power company workers managed to restore electricity to most residents of Odesa following a massive Russian attack on the night of August 9. At the same time, due to the extreme heat and increased strain on the grid, emergency power outages have been implemented in the city.
According to DTEK, work to repair the damage caused by the attack is ongoing, and the region’s power grid remains under significant strain.
Repair work is ongoing
However, as noted, repairs are ongoing: another 2,600 households in the Peresypsky District remain without power. Our crews are working around the clock to restore power to all homes as quickly as possible.
“A significant portion of the city and the region is currently receiving electricity via temporary circuits. Due to the heat, they are unable to transmit the full required amount of electricity. To prevent equipment damage and large-scale outages, utility workers are forced to implement emergency power cuts," the statement reads.
"We ask that you use electricity sparingly and turn on power-hungry appliances one at a time, especially during peak hours—from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.," DTEK added.

In the Odesa region, traffic to border crossings with Moldova has been restricted due to an attack by the Russian Federation.
As a reminder, Moldova may face an acute electricity shortage.
